Causes of obesity

There are various factors which causes obesity. It includes environment, genetics, eating habits, metabolic activities and also the life style of the person. If your father or mother is obese then you are at a greater risk to develop obesity. The main reason for obesity is the excessive intake of food. If you take more food then your body may not able to burn the calories completely as a result of which some of them turns into fats and settles under the skin. Obesity is also caused due to endocrinal and neurological problems. Lack of regular exercise is another reason. Use of steroids and other drugs can make a person obese.

Food Contaminants

Food contaminants are those substances present in our food which causes adverse effects on our health. There are mainly two types of food contaminants. They are metal toxins and dioxins. Metal toxins are metal contaminants present in our food. It includes Copper, Antimony, Mercury, Nickel, Aluminium, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Selenium, Vanadium and Platinum. Lead, Aluminium and Mercury belong to the category of neurotoxins. Other metal toxins disrupt the biochemical processes going inside the body and may result in a number of diseases. Dioxin is called so because it contains compounds chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and chlorinated dibenzofurans. They are highly toxic when compare to metal toxins and leads to tumor production and birth defects.

Effects of obesity

Obesity can result in severe health problems for a person. Obesity is found in children also. If a child is obese, he may have orthopaedic problems and as a result the child won’t be healthy. He may suffer from gall bladder disease, hypertension and sleep apnea. Other problems include hyperactivity, headache in the morning, cyanosis and pulmonary hypertension. In teenagers, it can create physical and psychological problems. Obesity can result in depression, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder, which are the psychological effects of obesity. Obese children are often teased by others. This may result in the development of inferiority complex in them.

Benefits of fasting

Fasting helps in providing some rest to our digestive system. It promotes weight loss in the body. Fasting also help people to removing their bad habits like addiction to drugs and alcohol. People addicted to alcoholic drinks will have a craving for such items. Fasting dissipates craving for such items. Fasting can help you to reduce the food consumed. When we do fasting on a regular basis our stomach shrinks as a result of which the intake of food will be reduced. It promotes detoxification. The blood pressure level will be reduced by fasting. So a person having high blood pressure can practise fasting to bring it to the normal level.

Exercise which helps in improving the oxygen consumption by the body is referred to as aerobic exercise. The term ‘Aerobic’ actually means oxygen. So, it can be defined as the exercise which utilise oxygen for the metabolic processes inside the body. So, it generates lots of energy. In order to obtain the required result the aerobic exercise should be done continuously for a specific period of time, preferably long periods. An aerobic exercise session usually starts with a warm up. This is done to free your muscles. Once it is over, there will be intense or moderate type exercise which will help to shape the muscles in your body. After that there will be a cooling down period. This is the time to take some rest.

Macro minerals and its role in human body

Our daily diet must contain adequate amount of macro minerals. These minerals are necessary for the biochemical processes going on in the human body. They act as electrolytes. 200 mg of macro minerals are required for our body daily. These minerals include calcium, chloride, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur and sodium.
