A Healthy Sweetener?
Most people have a sweet tooth and this has led to a myriad of health problems. Traditionally, the cane plant has been used to create sugar and tree sap has been used to make syrups. While not particularly healthy, these natural sweeteners have not caused as many health problems as the artificial sweeteners that have come onto the market in recent decades.
But there is one sweetener that is much safer than artificial sweeteners and doesn’t cause obesity like sugar cane and syrup. It’s called Stevia, and it is a naturally occurring sweetener that actually fights obesity rather than causing it. The buzz around Stevia has been very controversial with some people claiming that it causes health problems and even some countries banning its use as a sweetener. With others claiming so many health benefits, you may want to do some research and decide for yourself.
Stevia is the best thing that has been introduced to the U.S. in a very long time. God gave us a plant, primarily grown in South America. We’re simply using it. How bad can that be? Any one thinking this isn’t a wonderful plant, probably doesn’t like to use fresh Basil either…….. Anyway, I have been able to take sugar out of my diet due to Stevia and I love it! I recommend it especially for diabetics, but it’s great for kids and anyone wanting to reduce or take the sugar out of their diets. Our culture is way too “fat” and this is a step in the right direction.
In my opinion, the best brand out there is SweetLeaf. The reason for that is that their brand has no chemicals in the extraction or end product. Their brand is the healthiest.
They also have been blessed by the FDA with a Gras Status, which would also indicate that it’s been through major testing for their sweetener.
If you have never tasted their liquid flavors, I encourage you to try them. They are wonderful. A glass of water becomes a real treat, which in turn, encourages more water consumption. Again, how bad is that?
ok, I’m done. Have a great day!
