<p>Our foods have been classified into five major food groups. To lead a healthy life doctors suggest that you should have food from every group in proportionate quantities. These proportions vary according to many factors like age, sex, amount of physical activity etc. This proportionate intake every day is a balanced diet. Carbohydrates are the first group of food which provides energy to the body. Your daily dose of carbohydrates comes from rice, wheat, corn, bread etc. Proteins are required for body building and strengthening the immune system. Sources of proteins are chicken, fish, meat etc. Fats coming from oils and butter provide extra energy. Vitamins and minerals are needed for body building and maintenance. They are provided by fruits and vegetables. Along with these foods proper intake of roughage and lots of water is required to flush out the wastes from the body. If you are unable to take these foods in the right quantity you may have dietary supplements to help you out.</p>

Vitamins and minerals should also be a part of your daily diet which is available aplenty in fresh fruits and vegetables. Retinol or vitamin A, which you generally get from carrots, eggs, spinach, liver etc, works wonders for your vision. Fish oils and milk are rich in Vitamin D which helps in making your bones stronger. The trick to stay healthy is to consume a balanced diet rich in all nutrients.</p>
<p>Besides eating right, you should exercise regularly to stay fit. Regular skin care is also very important as teenage boys, especially, are prone to acne breakouts.</p>

<p>In African and American cultures on the other hand, the main concern would be the portion sizes. In one culture, they are too large while in others they are too small or non existent. This is another consideration to take in when the direct correlation between home cooked meals and nutrition sought after. Home cooked meals are the better alternative to take out. If however the home cooked meal is just as sugar and carbo loaded as the take out, then there is no point to the meal at all. Home cooked meals are always a plus with regards to nutrition and plays a major part in meeting ones nutritional requirements on a day to day basis.</p>
