Food Contaminants
Food contaminants are those substances present in our food which causes adverse effects on our health. There are mainly two types of food contaminants. They are metal toxins and dioxins. Metal toxins are metal contaminants present in our food. It includes Copper, Antimony, Mercury, Nickel, Aluminium, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Selenium, Vanadium and Platinum. Lead, Aluminium and Mercury belong to the category of neurotoxins. Other metal toxins disrupt the biochemical processes going inside the body and may result in a number of diseases. Dioxin is called so because it contains compounds chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and chlorinated dibenzofurans. They are highly toxic when compare to metal toxins and leads to tumor production and birth defects.
