Oral Manifestations in MS Patients

Multiple Sclerosis a disease of the central nervous system, people suffering from this disease usually have symptoms like visual impairment, hand and leg weakness, movement problems, dizziness and lack of ability to control their bladder. There are certain clinical manifestations that should be of concern to a dentist that affects the oro-facial region

The first is, Trigeminal Neuralgia, this is when the persons face is very sensitive to a point that they experience shock like pains while brushing or just by touching the skin. The pains occur regularly and the dentist should be able to identify this kind of pain from any other.

The second manifestation is Sensory Neuropathy is progressive and irreversible. Neuropathy of the mental nerve causes the lower and upper chin to become numb accompanied by pain and sometimes painless. Lastly, Facial Paralysis, when one side of the face is no longer able to make any movement
