Prevent Anemia

A well balanced diet rich in minerals like iron and other useful nutrients can help prevent anemia which is more commonly observed in pregnant ladies, vegetarians and patients with past medical records of blood diseases. Following suitable diet modifications will help you prevent anemia:

Eat foods that are rich sources of iron like red meat, chicken, eggs and fish. For vegans they should include large servings of dry fruits like raisins, prunes and apricots, lentils and different types of beans, green vegetables like broccoli, spinach etc and have iron fortified cereals for breakfast.

As iron is not easily absorbed by our bodies take it with vegetables that are rich sources of vitamin C like strawberries, orange juice and other citrus fruits

Lower caffeine and tea intake which slows the iron absorption process. Also up your calcium intake which will help your body absorb iron more freely

Some people may even be advised iron pills to supplement their iron intake but they should only be in consultation with your doctor. Prefer taking ferrous pills rather than ferric pill which are better absorbed by body and cause lesser side effects like vomiting, nausea, constipation etc. Following above tips you can surely prevent anemia.
